Man, it has been so long since I have blogged last! I started a blog back in 2011 about the everyday life of a Soldier. Well little did I know how extremely busy you are and had no time for anything other than sleep and work. Since being at the same job for over three years now, getting married, and having my sweet baby Grayson, life has actually leveled out again. I have a more consistent schedule and find myself wishing I was blogging again. So this is a different kind of blog than the one I previously started, but here we go again!
I decided to join the Army back in 2010. Why you might ask yourself? I still don't really know the exact answer to that question. Boredom, need for change, travel, steady paycheck. Maybe a combination of all the above. All I can say now though is
IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE.
I shipped to Basic Training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on September 14th 2010. What a day I will never forget. I made it through the tough 9 week program and graduated top of my class! That day I found my love for the army and knew it was something I would do forever {or at least I thought I would}
Next step, Fort Gordon, Georgia for Advanced Individual Training. I was there for about 4 months learning my job. I am a Signal Support Systems Specialist. That is just a fancy way of saying everything communications!!!
While I was there I decided I wanted to be super high speed and goAIRBORNE!!! Why not get paid to jump out of planes!
I learned everything I needed to know about all types of communications and left for Fort Benning, Georgia to learn how to fall from the sky.AND WHAT A PERFECT DECISION THAT WAS because I first set eyes on my wonderful husband. The funny part? I thought he was a real jerk when I first met him and didn't care if I ever saw him again.
Airborne training is exactly 3 weeks longs. You have to make 5 successful jumps before you get your wings and I will never forget laying on the drop zone after that last one just in tears of how proud of myself I was. It was the HARDEST thing I had ever been through at that part of my life. I also found out while I was in Airborne Schools that once I was done I was going to be stationed at FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA!!! Here I come East Coast!
I had been at Fort Bragg for about 2 weeks when a friend of mine came to hang out and brought a friend of his. A guy named Greg. A guy that I had seen before at airborne school and was not very impressed. We hung out that night because my friend was getting ready to deploy and I wouldn't see him for awhile. Greg tagged along, was quiet in the back the whole time, then we said our goodbyes and went on our way.
Life got BUSY AND CRAZY ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I woke up, went to work, came home, and went to bed. I spent my weekends catching up on sleep or laundry. Then one day, a message came across my Facebook by a kid named Greg.
"you don't have to be a stranger just because Adam in gone" is how the conversation started. We exchanged numbers and got offline. A 2 hour phone conversation took place the next night, and lets just say, that is where my life WITH MY AMAZING HUSBAND BEGAN.
